  • There is also an English language requirement that should also be fulfilled. It is a mandatory requirement to get approved for RSMS visa.
  • If you are already working in Australia under a subclass 457 temporary visa for any employer and already have completed two years then your employer can nominate you for RSMS visa. You will get nomination under the same skills for which you are currently working.
  • You also can apply directly for this RSMS visa even if you are not in Australia. There is also an option to submit an Expression of Interest or ‘EOI’ to get nominated by employers.

RSMS visa includes 3 streams:

Temporary residence transition stream: This one is for oversees employees already working in Australia for over two years under a subclass 457 visa. For this stream a Regional Certifying Body’s (RCB) certification is not required.

Direct entry stream: This is for individuals who (generally) have not been working or staying in Australia, or people who have not held their 457 for a full 2 years with the same employer in the same position (in which case the temporary residence transition stream would be more appropriate). A Regional Certifying Body’s certification is mandatory.

Agreement stream: For this stream an employer must nominate you under a labour agreement.
These are the basic requirement you need to fulfill before applying for RSMS visa. Choose the skill set for which you want to get nominated carefully. If you are looking for a Regional Certifying Body’s certification then you will need to go through the appropriate state government department to do so. Different RCBs have different requirements to certify you. Ask them for full details and check if you can fulfill them.
